Why a barbecue
A barbecue keeps a summer party relaxed. Food comes out through the evening, guests eat standing up, and nobody is tied to a seating plan. It suits a garden, a terrace or a roof, and it works for most dietary needs if you brief the venue early.
How we choose
We only list venues whose own listing offers BBQ catering. Other outdoor venues may grill on request, so ask. Some cook in front of guests. Apothecaries' Hall (180) has chefs on display Souk barbecues. The Duke of Edinburgh garden in Brixton (500) has a BBQ kitchen and two outdoor bars. The Alwyne Castle (400) has a dedicated BBQ area.
Pubs, beaches and gardens
The Edinboro Castle in Camden takes 500, with 300 outdoors and 200 indoors. Neverland (500) has a sandy beach by the Thames. Beach at Big Penny Social (150) brings sand to Walthamstow. The Union (250) has front and back beer gardens.
Rooftops and landmarks
The Derby Rooftop (60) looks over King's Cross. RIBA (400) sits between Oxford Street and Regent's Park. The Reveller (320) is by Tower Hill, and Lincoln's Inn East Terrace takes 450. For the whole company, London Summer House holds 2,000 and Evolution Battersea Park 3,000.
