A game gives people something to do besides drink and talk. It mixes departments that rarely meet, and it breaks the ice for new starters. Guests who would rather not play can watch from the bar.

How a game works for a group

Most of these venues split a group into teams on courses, lanes or oches, and book the games in slots. With a big group, teams take turns while others eat and drink. Ask how many can play at once and how long a round takes. Swingers West End (800) mixes crazy golf with street food and cocktails. Puttshack Bank (650) runs tech-led mini golf. Flight Club Victoria (650) has 18 oche areas. At Whistle Punks (200) instructors lead the axe throwing.

Outdoor games

The Bowls Club LDN (650) plays short, rapid lawn bowls in a country garden setting. Neverland (500) has a sandy beach by the Thames in Fulham. Beach at Brixton Jamm (250) has sand under a retractable roof. Boulebar (350) plays pétanque on the South Bank.

Canary Wharf and small groups

Canary Wharf has four of these venues. Clays Canary Wharf (350) runs clay shooting games with heated outdoor terraces, and Fairgame (600) has fairground games. For a small team, the VIP Oche Room at Oche takes 24 with two oches. Clays' private shooting room takes 50.
