Livery hall gardens and courtyards
Several of the City's historic livery company halls open their gardens and courtyards for summer parties. Merchant Taylors' Hall, Haberdashers' Hall, Skinners' Hall, Saddlers' Hall, Apothecaries' Hall, Stationers' Hall and Tallow Chandlers' Hall are all listed here, for receptions of 75 to 400 guests. They feel private and a long way from the office, even when they are a few minutes from Bank or St Paul's.
Rooftops and views
For a view, Sky Garden takes up to 750 guests and Madison Roof Terrace up to 700. Smaller groups have St Paul's Roof Terrace (180), Smiths of Smithfield (200) and Landing Forty Two (300).
The whole company
The City also has some of the biggest spaces we list. Old Billingsgate and the HAC Summer Marquee each hold up to 2,400 guests, The Terrace at HAC Armoury House 690, Puttshack Bank 650 with its mini golf courses, and the Barbican 600.
Smaller groups
Thirteen of the spaces suit 100 guests or fewer, from the terraces at Devonshire Terrace and The Happenstance to The Ivy City Garden, the Secret Garden at South Place Hotel and the Princes Dome at The Ned.
Getting there
Liverpool Street is the nearest station for nine of these spaces, then Cannon Street and Tower Hill (five each), and Barbican and St Paul's (four each). Liverpool Street and Farringdon are both on the Elizabeth line, which helps if your team travels in from across London. For a tighter search, see the area pages for Liverpool Street & Moorgate, Aldgate & Tower Hill and Farringdon, Clerkenwell & Barbican.
When to book
Weekday evenings in June and July are the most asked-for dates in the City, when many firms nearby hold their parties at the same time. If you have a date in mind, hold it early, and ask us about alternatives on nearby dates if your first choice has gone.
