Few places can hold a whole company of this size, and 10 of the 17 here are marquee venues. The rest are large halls, warehouses and courtyards. The London Summer House (2,000) is purpose-built for summer events on the South Bank, near the London Eye. Magazine London takes up to 7,000 standing or 1,500 seated, with concert sound, a lighting rig and a mix of bars.

Marquees and gardens

The HAC Summer Marquee (2,400) is in the City, near Moorgate. The Hurlingham Club (1,200) has large grounds beside the Thames, near Putney Bridge. Regents College (1,000) has formal gardens inside Regent's Park, and Evolution Battersea Park is a marquee venue for up to 3,000. Near London Bridge station, Vinegar Yard (1,000) is an open-air street food site with views of The Shard.

Historic buildings and warehouses

Old Billingsgate (2,400) is a Grade II listed former fish market by Tower Hill. Somerset House, Fountain Court (2,500) is a courtyard framed by neoclassical wings. Tobacco Dock (2,000) is a short walk from Shadwell station. Alexandra Palace has interlinking spaces for up to 5,000, and Big Penny Social (1,600), near Blackhorse Road, can be hired whole.

Planning a party of this size

An event for a thousand people or more is closer to a small festival than a drinks party. Expect to plan staging, sound, power, toilets, security and first aid, and some sites need extra licensing.
