Historic houses in St James's

St James's has several historic houses with outdoor space. Spencer House has a private terrace looking over Green Park (up to 450 guests), and Lancaster House stands close to Buckingham Palace (350). On Pall Mall, the Carlton Room, terrace and garden take 300, and the In and Out Club on St James's Square has a courtyard for 100. Six Park Place is laid out like an English country garden, with a lawn and a rose arch (120).

For a large group, Westminster Abbey opens its gardens for up to 1,000 guests. It is the only space in Westminster on our list for more than 450.

Rooftops

The Rooftop at Trafalgar St James overlooks Trafalgar Square. Book the Deck (100), the Gallery (60) or the Rooftop Room for private dining (25). Near Victoria, the Cathedral View Rooftop Garden was landscaped by Adam Frost (120). The Sloane Club Roof Terrace (100) sits off the King's Road by Sloane Square, at the Chelsea edge of the area.

Victoria, Pimlico and the river

Flight Club Victoria is a fairground-themed darts venue for up to 110. Timmy Green has a glass-fronted, greenhouse-style room with terrace space (150), and One Drummond Gate in Pimlico is a conference venue with a private garden (150). By the Thames, the Royal Horseguards Hotel is a short walk from Embankment (150).

Getting there

Victoria, Green Park and Charing Cross are each the nearest station for three venues, and Piccadilly Circus for two. Victoria has mainline trains as well as the Victoria, District and Circle lines.
