The Tallow Chandlers’ Hall, a distinguished Summer Party Venue, holds roots dating back to the 13th century when it originated as a religious fraternity. Achieving full livery status in 1462, the Company has been situated on this site since 1476, and its present Hall, constructed in 1672, stands as one of the three oldest Livery Halls in the City. Positioned atop the buried walls of the Roman Governor’s Palace, it remains in close proximity to the London Stone, an ancient core of London’s history.
Easily identifiable by its ‘tallow chandler blue’ wrought iron gates and the Company’s Coat of Arms, the primary entrance of Tallow Chandlers’ Hall is situated directly across from the Dowgate Hill exit of Cannon Street Underground station.
Upon entry through the ornate Company gates on Dowgate Hill, guests are welcomed into a secluded Courtyard that underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2021. Adorned with York Stone paving, the Courtyard features olive trees and vibrant floral arrangements, creating a serene oasis amidst the urban bustle. This tranquil space accommodates up to 120 guests for al fresco drinks, offering a peaceful retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle.
